This summer, July 2008, I will be going on another mission trip to Jihlava, Czech Republic.  Edie and Jon will be joining me this year to help at an English Camp.  Like many other churches in the Czech Republic, the church in Jihlava uses teaching English as an outreach into the community for the purpose of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with the Czech people.

 We plan to stay a second week to travel to the southern point of the Czech Republic to investigate institutions that care for special-needs children.  We are reaching out to these institutions in Christian love with the intent of assisting in caring for and loving these special children of God.  In doing so, we are trying to lay the ground work to return in the next year or two to develop a full-time mission with these children.

 The first and foremost need is for your prayers.  The Czech Republic is the most atheist state in Europe and its people are cautious in accepting “outsiders.”  This trip cannot be successful without your prayers joining ours in asking God to open doors and hearts.  Pray for the planning of the trip and the opening of hearts in the Czech Republic to allow us to obtain permission to help out in these institutions.  Also, pray for understanding with everyone we meet there so that we can establish lasting relationships through which we will be able to love and minister to the children.

 Although God has blessed us in many ways already, Edie and I still need to raise money for this trip to happen.  Our current estimate of expenses is that, for the three of us to make this summer’s trip, we will need an additional $3,000 to $3500 US to cover travel expenses (the biggest part of the expense), room, and board.

 Again, please keep us in your prayers.  We need our brothers and sisters in Christ praying with us for guidance, direction, insight, and open hearts and doors along the journey God has called us to travel.  Any financial assistance you feel led to provide would be a great blessing to us as we prepare for this trip.  Also, as God reveals His direction in transforming this ministry from a mission trip to a full-time mission, we ask for your continued support.
